Apple MacBook Pro MB986LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop 2.8Ghz

Apple MacBook Pro MB986LL/A Laptop : Apple’s latest version of the MacBook Pro combines a sleeker case, more GB of RAM, an SD slot, and longer battery life, all with a lowered price. The 15″ LED backlit display (available on the previous models as well) is simply gorgeous, with crisp graphics and easy-on-the-eyes clarity.

Unlike older models of the MacBook and MacBook Pro, this laptop runs fairly cool, even after hours of using a lot of processor power. The case, though not as thin as the Air, is slimmer than most (non-Apple) laptops I’ve seen, with an aluminum case that resists fingerprints better than the old MacBooks. The keyboard is comfortable, with responsive keys, and is lit from behind with blue light. The touch pad is a single square, without a visibly separate clicker, although it’s there, at the bottom, under the pad, with right and left click functions

Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A Laptop

Apple MacBook Pro MB991LL/A Laptop : just got my brand new 13.3″ Macbook Pro in the mail. I customized mine with 4GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive, but with the entry-level 2.26 GHz Intel processor. I unboxed it in front of my mother and sister, and they were both oohing and aahing about how beautiful and thin it was. They also loved the magnetic connector on the end of the power adapter that snaps the power cord into the computer nearly by itself. I powered the computer up, went through the Leopard setup screens, and within minutes was logged in. While starting up, the light sensor powered on, the screen dimmed, and the keyboard lit-up automatically. Everything about this computer suggests ingenious design and engineering, with great attention to every detail. It is very light, and since I am using this for school, I am very happy with the size and form factor, particularly the charger.

Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station

Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station : I replaced an older generation linksys G wireless router with Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station from apple. My internet connection immediately jumped from 15 mb to 23 mb and I can tell my internet connection is smoother, it always felt a bit choppy with the linksys. As far as computers go, I’m on mac mini and my wife is on an XP machine, the router handles both, along with our two ipod touches, with ease.

Update – I noticed my local network connection speed went from 270 mb to 130 mb. After researching I found out that my mac mini was being assigned to the 2.4 ghz band automatically instead of being assigned to the 5ghz band.

Go To —> Airport Utility –> Press Manual Setup button –> Click Wireless Tab –> Click More Options pull down –> Select Wireless Network Options –> Check 5Ghz Network Name and write in a network name –> Click Done –> Click Update

Then let the router restart, when it does, assign your mac or windows PCs with 5 ghz network adapters to the newly broadcasted 5ghz network.

Apple MacBook Air MC234LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop

Apple MacBook Air MC234LL/A Laptop : There have been plenty of reviews panning the Mac Air due to limitations. I’m not a techie so for me it is a perfect fit. I own a desktop mac and can do on it what I can’t on the Air. The Air is great for travel or just to carry around the house when I don’t want to be pinned down to my desk. It is super light weight. Yes, it meant shelling out some serious change for what is basically a Netbook on steroids but unlike a Netbook, it is substantial. Full keyboard, GREAT screen, etc., etc., etc. Then again, the new IPad may fill those needs for others. Your choice. K

For the record, I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator and a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist. I’ve used PCs since before what we know of as “Windows”. I have used multiple operating systems and servers from Microsoft over the years, and I am a TechNet subscriber. I also work in an IT/Desktop Support role at my place of business, which is 100% Microsoft. I have four PCs – my work Dell, my Gateway P-7805u FX Edition (lovingly referred to in this review as “Big Poppa”), my Gateway netbook from Verizon Wireless, and an Acer AspireRevo that is basically a media server. I have built PCs, troubleshot PCs, installed, configured, and reconfigured PCs, and work with virtual machines all day long.

The new MacBook Multi-Touch trackpad has no button because it is the button. Not having a separate button also makes for a larger trackpad surface, giving your fingers more room to move, click, and gesture. And because the trackpad supports Multi-Touch gestures, you can use one or more fingers to interact with your documents, images, and applications with gestures such as two-finger scroll, pinch, swipe, and rotate. If you come from a right-click world, you can configure a right-click area on the trackpad or simply press with two fingers.
